WMTV 15 News interviewed Jaymes Langrehr, PIO for the City of Madison Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development, who explained how location can impact the integrity of an affordable housing development. Rise Madison was cited as a Gold Star example for how location can positively impact the lives of the residents who live there.
Langrehr also outlined criteria the City of Madison suggests developers consider when undertaking an affordable housing project, including access to schools, transportation, job opportunities, and locations along main transit lines.
In addition to being one of Madison’s largest affordable developments, Rise Madison is also located next to a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stop on East Washington Avenue, a school, and offers ample green space, which promote quality of life for its residents.
