Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corp. (WHPC), a leader in the preservation and development of quality affordable housing throughout Wisconsin, is pleased to announce WHPC Chief Financial Officer Joseph (Joe) Carpenter has been recognized as the Non-Profit CFO of the Year by In Business – Madison Magazine.
The second annual In Business 2024 CFO of the Year Awards program took place on July 11, 2024, at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club. The awards were presented by Forvis Mazars US. Nominations were open to organizations in Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Rock, and Sauk counties.

As CFO at WHPC, Joe leads a team overseeing the property, corporate, and consolidated accounting for the organization. He is also responsible for information technology including major systems for property and organization management.
WHPC is the largest owner-operator of affordable rental housing in the state. When Joe joined WHPC in 2019, the organization needed to implement a new data system to begin operations separate from its operating model at the time. Under Joe’s guidance, WHPC now operates a sophisticated enterprise resource planning (ERP) software system, which has helped the organization earn $100 million in revenue and grow its assets to $649 million in fiscal year 2024. WHPC has an AA- issuer credit rating (ICR) in Standard & Poor’s S&P Global Ratings Report.
